Step 1: Navigate to the Contacts Database
- Log into your HubSpot account.
- On the top navigation bar, click on "Contacts" to access your contacts database.
Step 2: Access Lists
- In the left sidebar, click on "Lists."
Step 3: Create a New List
- Click on the orange “Create list” button located in the top right corner.
- Choose the list to be "Active list." An active list is dynamic and automatically updates as contacts meet the criteria.
Step 4: Define the List Criteria Based on Email Interactions
- In the “Filter by” search bar, type “Email.”
- From the dropdown, you'll see various email-related criteria like “Email Clicked,” “Email Opened,” “Email Bounced,” etc.
- Choose the desired criteria based on your segmentation needs. For instance, if you want to track who has opened a specific campaign, choose “Email Opened.”
Step 5: Specify the Email Campaign
- Once you choose an email-related criterion (e.g., "Email Opened"), another dropdown will appear, prompting you to select a specific email campaign or any email.
- Choose the specific email campaign you're interested in or opt for any email, depending on your needs.
Step 6: Add More Criteria (Optional)
- If you wish to add more layers of segmentation (e.g., contacts who opened a specific email AND clicked on a specific link), click on the "AND" or "OR" option.
- Repeat the process of choosing criteria based on your segmentation goals.
Step 7: Save and Name the List
- Once you've set your criteria, click on the “Next” button in the top right corner.
- Name your list in a way that's descriptive of the segmentation (e.g., “Opened Product Launch Email”).
- Click on “Save” to finalize the list creation.
Step 8: Review and Manage the Segmented List
- After saving, you'll be redirected to the list overview page where you can view all the contacts who fit the criteria.
- From here, you can further segment, export the list, or create targeted email campaigns for these specific contacts.
Step 9: Monitor and Update
- Periodically review the list to see if the contacts are engaged as you hoped or if any further segmentation or re-targeting is needed.
